Rue loved coming to the orphanage. It was a sad place, but whenever she came and helped the young children, she felt a sense of pride. Her parent's were unaware she made regular visits here. As their pretty little daughter who was intelligent and quiet, they would be disappointed if they found their beloved child spent her time with others. Rue was not sure why, but nevertheless, she knew. She had finished volunteering for the day and was heading home. However, something drew her away from her home and towards the city. She wasn't sure why. Hugging her comfortable cloak around her on this unusually chilly June night, she hustled towards the city. Her eyes pulled up from where they were examining the ground ahead of her to a familiar person in the distance. Rue cocked her head and squinted her eyes, trying to make out the person ahead, who had noticed her as well...

Xiu shivered a bit in the cold, her thin jacket was not protecting her much against the cold. She had been working, as usual, and was now at the corner waiting for the bus that would take her home. Xiu loved her house, just not the inconvenience from commuting to and from work. She had to take a bus, two trains, and there was about two miles worth of walking both ways. Needless to say, Xiu couldn't wait until she was allowed to apparate. When she saw Rue, she smiled. They weren't exactly friends, but at least the person in the distance was familiar. They were in the same house and year, but Xiu had never approached her. She gave a nod of greeting.

Rue nodded in Xiu's direction. She wasn't exactly familiar with the fellow Ravenclaw girl, but she knew enough about her. An avid Quidditch player, a good student. And seemingly kind. Rue smiled gently, hugging her cloak closely to her body. She wasn't sure how to start up a conversation with the girl, but she did stop. Rue sized up the situation quietly. Xiu seemed nice enough she supposed. Then again, Rue could be nice if she weren't so shy.

"Hello," Xiu said with a smile, her voice soft and quiet. "Waiting for the bus too?" She wasn't exactly sure where else to begin conversation. She had been quite surprised the summer before fifth year when she had been made a prefect, Xiu had always thought the position would go to someone a bit more outgoing than her, but it had most certainly stopped the teasing, nobody messed with a prefect. Everybody just left her alone now.

"Hello." Rue replied softly, a small yet shy smile playing on her lips. She nodded a bit at Xiu's question. She couldn't help but notice Xiu's quiet voice too. Rue was a bit surprised. Most people were not nearly so shy. Then again, she wasn't one to talk, being incredibly quiet most of the time. She was surprised she wasn't teased for it. People didn't generally mess with her, or think her too cold. Rue didn't really care though, she was comfortable in silence.

Xiu was certainly a lot more comfortable now that she was not waiting for the bus alone, the nighttime commute back to her house always made her jittery. She was small, easily overtaken by someone larger. This went out the window when it came to Quidditch, Xiu was knocked around a lot as she attempted to score goals and seemed to be some sort of bludger magnet, she certainly gave the beaters a lot to handle. "What have you been up to?" Xiu asked, voice timid.
